Los Fresnos Food Pantry
The Los Fresnos Food Pantry is part of the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank . They purchase food from the RGV Food Bank to provide nourishment to registered low income families of Los Fresnos.
The number of registered families has increased recently as our community is being impacted by the economic downturn.
The Food Pantry is run by food recipient volunteers working under the guidance of Mr. Valentin Leal and his assistant Janie, who are employed by Outreach.
The LF Food Pantry volunteers receive, organize and distribute the food purchased from the RGV Food Bank.
LFUMC is contributing to this worthy organization as a community outreach project. 13 homemade quilts that were lovingly made by ladies from our Winter Family were donated. The local schools contributed lots of canned goods. Rice, beans, nopalitos, and stuffing peppers were also distributed. There is such a strong feeling of love and gratitude from the needy people and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The first Sunday of each month has been designated
Food Pantry Sunday.
A special offering is taken to purchase personal hygiene items to be given out on distribution day. LFUMC children will be collecting nonperishable food items each month and contributing change to the noisy offering.
The LFUMC Thrift Store is now donating two hundred dollars monthly to purchase non-food items. With your help, the LF Food Pantry will become a beacon of light for many families going through difficult times.
